* The Quiet Knitter is not open to review requests at present*
About Me
A book addiction would be a kind way to describe my relationship with books, I enjoy reading and have done from an early age. A day I don’t get any reading done is a sad day.
In 2019 I created Noble Owl Proofreading, offering freelance proofreading support to authors and publishers, and whilst I still blog about books, a lot of my time is spent proofreading.
I decided to start blogging about books and reading as well as random musings because I wanted to share my love of a good book with others.
My favourite books to read are historical fiction, crime, thrillers, mystery and police procedurals, but I do like to change pace and read something completely different now and again, sometimes contemporary fiction provides a little light relief.
Please bear in mind that this blog is a work in progress, it should hopefully improve as time goes on and I work out what I’m trying to do, so patience is much appreciated. This blog is a hobby, reading is a passion and not something I do full time (I am a mother and wife and these take priority).
Review Policy
I’m happy to read and review books from authors/ publishers. I cannot guarantee I will accept a request to read a book, especially if it’s not in my preferred genre, please do not be offended if this is the case.
- Mobi
- Kindle
- Hardback
- Paperback
I prefer to read my favoured genres:
- Crime
- Thriller
- Police Procedural
- Mystery
- Historical Fiction
- Contemporary Fiction
I will consider all requests but this does not necessarily mean that I will accept them all (I am human and blogging is a hobby, not a full time occupation), please do not take it personally if I cannot review your book, there just simply aren’t enough hours in the day to read all the books. I try to keep on top of emails etc as best as I can, but with other commitments some things can slip below the radar so please bear in mind that I may not reply to every email I receive and if you do not receive a response to your email within 2 weeks then please do not be offended, I’ve probably replied in my head and not actually written something down.
Where I feel that I cannot write a review for a book, cannot finish a book, or simply do not enjoy the book, I will contact the sender to advise of this and the reasons why.
Ooh will definitely have to check that out, thanks for the heads up
If you like thrillers & indie presses, have you tried Heidi Amsinck The Last Train to Helsingor, published by Muswell Press? Great thriller short stories published by a small press currently being reinvented by a pair of sparky sisters.
Thought i would send a message as I love the idea of you knitting as you read.
Indeed in my case it is crocheting as i read…..!
I know you are closed for submissions and anyway my genre is outside of your chices.
I write children’s picture books and at the moment no crime there.
Keep knitting and i will keep crocheting.
Best wishes
Sue
p.s. I do have a photo somewhere of a bus having been knitted/crochet bombed. Is that a crime!
Thank you so much 🙂
Lovely website Kate! 😍 So easy to navigate and set out beautifully!

I miss knitting and have been wanting to get back to it–especially as we near winter! but seems my time is taken up with reading, and then the review writing; just not enough time in the time. glad I found you and am looking forward to book and knitting tales!

I too love to knit and read but have not managed to do so at the same time. Love your blogs name and delighted to have stumbled across you
Very impressed by your knitting/kindle skills! I’m more of a crochet-er, but I need both eyes firmly on my stitches 🙂 Thanks for the follow.
